Andreas Scheibner, baritone

Kammersänger Andreas Scheibner has an excellent reputation as a concert singer. In the 2015/16 season he is invited by the Dresdner Philharmonie to take over the bass part in Mozart's Great Mass in C minor and in Berlioz´ Jeanne d´Arc au bûcher under the baton of Bertrand de Billy. Furthermore the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart invited him to return  under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann in Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem.

Concerts in the previous season incuded Beethoven´s Missa Solemnis with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI Torino, Haydn´s Creation at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Bach Cantatas and Christmas Oratorio at the Frauenkirche Dresden, Beethoven´s Symphony N° 9 at the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg,  Mozart´s Coronation Mass and The Great Mass with the Staatskapelle Halle and Camerata Salzburg.

Further highlights were Dvorak´s Stabat Mater with the Orchestra Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the final concert of the Music Festival Stuttgart with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart under Hans-Christoph Rademann, Britten’s War Requiem at Festspielhaus Salzburg and at Brucknerhaus Linz and his debut under Kirill Petrenko as Alberich in Wagner´s Rheingold with the Orchestra Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. A very successful highlight was his Christmas Oratorio in December 2011 with the Sächsische Staatskapelle under Christian Thielemann.

Also in the opera houses, he is a welcome guest and will debut in the spring of 2016 at the Opéra de Paris in Reimann's Lear as Duke of Albany, conducted by Fabio Luisi. In the last season he sang the role of Otokar in Weber´s Freischütz at the Opéra de Limoges. At the Opéra de Marseille he celebrated in March 2011 a resounding success with his interpretation of Wozzeck which he already sang in Tel Aviv and Lille. As a result he has been invited to perform the same role in the 2012/13 season at the Opéra de Limoges, Reims, Rouen and Avignon. 

Highlights of the last seasons include the Swiss premiere of Death and the Maiden at the Theater St. Gallen, guest performances at Theater an der Wien (The Prince of Homburg), at Oper Bonn (Cardillac), at Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Brussels (Tristan und Isolde), at the Schwetzinger Festival (The good God of Manhattan), at Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden (The devils of Loudon), at Opéra National de Paris (Die Fledermaus and Manoury’s Opera K).

He worked together with renowned conductors such as Abbado, K. Petrenko, Berio, Davis, Eschenbach, Ferro, Frühbeck, Hager, Horvat, Karabchevsky, Kuhn, Luisi, Märkl, Metzmacher, Navarro and Sinopoli.

Andreas Scheibner was born in Dresden, became a soloist of the Dresdner Kreuzchor and studied at the Musikhochschule Dresden. He has been a soloist at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden since 1983. Due to his artistic merits, Andreas Scheibner was invested as "Kammersänger" by the Ministry of Culture.
